UFC 208 Odds and Predictions

UFC 208 on Saturday night in New York includes Holly Holm taking on Germaine de Randamie for the first featherweight title. Holm is a former bantamweight champion who given Ronda Rousey her initial loss while de Randamie is 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the UFC. The main card at UFC 208 includes five bouts as along with Holm vs. de Randamie it is Anderson Silva vs. Derek Brunson, Glover Teixeira vs. Jared Cannonier, Ronaldo Souza vs. Tim Boetsch and Dustin Poirier vs. Jim Miller. Let us look at UFC 208 with a focus on Holm vs. de Randamie and Silva vs. Brunson and UFC picks.
Bet on UFC at BetCris Germaine de Randamie -123 vs. Holly Holm
Holm has the larger name and experience but it is. Holm is 10-2 in her career and 3-2 at the UFC. She is expecting to win the inaugural featherweight title. “I understand that right now, it’s the start of the division,” said Holm”But there are several women that want the chance. I guarantee you they can build a branch very quickly. They have only got to make some telephone calls.”
It was believed that Cristiane”Cyborg” Justino would fight to the belt but Cyborg is out of action right now as a result of a failed drug test. Holm and de Randamie is going to be the first two in the division but more might be on the road including Megan Anderson who won the Invicta FC interim featherweight title against Charmaine Tweet.
Holm comes into this battle having lost two straight fights at bantamweight as she had been beaten by Miesha Tate and Valentina Shevchenko. Holm believes those two losses do not mean she’s on the downside of her livelihood.
“I know I have two losses, but I didn’t get schooled in my last two fights,” she explained. “Against Miesha Tate, I was winning until I got choked out. And my struggle with Shevchenko, she’s going for the name, and it was a close struggle. In my heart, I know she won that struggle. She had been the better fighter at night. I believe that anyone can be beat, and I still have that in me. I have that confidence in me. I have confidence in my own ability. I simply must perform.”
UFC Picks
It is tough to get excited about taking Holm but what’s de Randamie done to show she is worthy of winning a name? I will have a little shot with Holm and also play the rounds to go over the total.
Derek Brunson -127 vs. Anderson Silva
Silva is the marquee name but it’s questionable as to whether he’s left. He is 33-8 in his career but he hasn’t won a fight since 2012. He has four losses and a no competition in his last five fights. Brunson is 16-4 in his career but he is coming off a loss to Robert Whittaker in November.
Silva is 41-years older and that he is not the fighter he once was but he has faced far tougher competition than Brunson has in recent years. If there is going to be a bounce back for Silva it must start with a triumph over Brunson.
UFC Picks
I don’t believe Brunson is anything special and while Silva is definitely over the hill I believe he can find a way to acquire this one.
