UFC Betting News

The UFC has come a long way since the 1990s when Senator John McCain led a campaign to ban the game. Fortunately for fighters and fans alike, UFC has climbed to the top of the sports societal standing list and stamped itself as a novelty event-based amusement activity. People from around the globe watch UFC and attend the events. Odds Shark’s Ultimate Fighting Championship webpages are filled with UFC betting tips, odds and more to provide you a better knowledge of how to bet on UFC and (hopefully) win a little money.
A Brief History of the UFC
The first-ever UFC event (a pay-per-view affair) was held at the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado. It had been in 1993 along with the winner was Royce Gracie of the legendary Gracie family — they are just like the Kardashians of MMA. After UFC 1, the sport started to generate interest from sponsors and its own fan base began to grow. Fighting for a place at the professional sports landscape, UFC enlarged from only pay-per-view and created The Ultimate Fighter, a reality tv show for Spike TV about up-and-coming MMA fighters. Because of this UFC’s mainstream exposure, fighters such as Georges St-Pierre became family names. Dana White, who’s held the position of UFC president since 2001, has contributed to the game’s mainstream appeal by ensuring cards feature notable fighters and occasions are greatly encouraged. As of 2018, there had been over 400 events and female celebrities such as Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg have become just as popular as their male counterparts. Names like Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, T.J. Dillashaw and Rose Namajunas have become as popular as the other stars of the sports world like Tom Brady, LeBron James, Serena Williams and Sidney Crosby.
How to Bet on the UFC
If it comes to betting on the UFC, there are two main kinds of bets that can be made. Both gambling options give you a opportunity to place smart wagers on the matchups and fighters of your choice.
Moneyline
A moneyline wager is a bet you put on the boxer you think will win the fight. Each fighter is given the label of underdog or favorite based on if they’re predicted to win or lose the game. For this instance, we’ll use made-up fighters. Frankie”Frankenstein” Frankowitz is listed at -600 along with his opponent Manny”Manners” McManus is recorded at +450. In this situation, Frankenstein is your preferred and Manners is the underdog. In order to win $100 on Frankenstein, you’d have to wager $600. But if you bet $100 on Manners, you had net $450 when he wins. FYI, he is called Manners because he’s super polite.
OVER/UNDER
UFC betting odds will be provided for OVER/UNDER round gambling wagers. This is a bet you can make on the number of rounds a bout will survive. For a three-round competition, a bet will usually be OVER/UNDER 1.5 rounds. For five-round matchups, the OVER/UNDER is typically 2.5 rounds. An example is if M. Bison and Colonel William F. Guile from Street Fighter were squaring off for a five-round competition. The UFC betting odds for this particular feign fight are +120 when the game goes over 2.5 rounds, and -140 when the match goes under 2.5 rounds. If you think it’ll be a quick fight, you’d take the UNDER and need to bet $140 to make $100. If you think the fight will last more than 2.5 rounds, you would take the OVER and you would need to bet $100 to win $120. If Colonel Guile KOs Bison at the center of the second round, if you bet the UNDER, you’d win your bet. Sonic Boom!

The Difference Between UFC and MMA
The difference between mixed martial arts as well as the Ultimate Fighting Championship is that MMA is the game and UFC is a business. Mixed martial arts is your style of fighting used in the UFC. It is the same as the NFL is a league and football is the sport. MMA is a composite of different styles of fighting like wrestling, boxing, jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. Mixed martial arts has existed since the early 1900s but it wasn’t until the 1980s it gained steam. In 1993, upon the formation of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, MMA became the powerhouse it’s today. The UFC is headquartered in Las Vegas. John Wick will probably be the face of the UFC if he had been a real person because he knows how to battle and would likely win all of his struggles. Do not touch with his dog.
UFC Terminology
When learning how to wager about the UFC, you should get accustomed to the language.
Cage: The ring in which the competition occurs. This eight-sided enclosure is officially called the Octagon.
Card: The card is your list of games which are occurring for a specific event. The most important event is called the Main Event. A struggle between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov would be the Main Event.
Disqualification: When a fighter uses an intentional illegal movement, ending the game. Another fighter is then declared the winner by default.
Forfeit: When a fighter ends the fight or fails to compete in the first position, they are strengthening their opponent’s victory. Reasons for forfeiting a match range from injuries sustained at the last minute or a fighter not showing up on the afternoon of the fight for personal reasons.
Knockout: When a fighter is routed into a state of unconsciousness in their opponent’s legal attack.
No Competition: If a fighter performs an accidental illegal move leaving their opponent unable to continue, the game will be announced NC.
Rounds: Rounds are just five minutes, with a one-minute break between each. Championship battles and Main Events include five rounds and all others utilize a three-round arrangement.
Submission: This takes place when a fighter pops the mat or his competitor or verbally communicates that he/she is in too much distress or pain to keep the match.
Technical Knockout: When a fighter can not continue with the bout. There are 3 Kinds of TKOs:
Referee stoppage: Whenever the ref stops the fight because one of the participants cannot defend themselves anymore Doctor stoppage: When the ringside doctor deems that it is unsafe for a fighter to continue with the game Corner stoppage: When a fighter’s cornerman — you understand, Mickey from Rocky — signals for the struggle to end because his very own fighter Can’t continue
