As previously mentioned, Freehold Raceway, owned by Penn National Gaming and Greenwood Gaming (owner of Parx Casino in Pennsylvania) is also a prime candidate to go into the land-based sports gambling kingdom.
On the internet front, there’s much more space to maneuver as every sports betting license holder is entitled to three branded sites, or skins. Some, such as Monmouth Park and Resorts AC, have already debuted two skins, but many others, including heavyweights Tropicana, Hard Rock Casino, and Golden Nugget, have not launched any. Anticipate multiple AC-branded online sportsbooks to pop up in the not-so-distant near future, and for other companies like the Kindred Group (currently aligned with Hard Rock Casino) and Australian-based PointsBet (partnered with the Meadowlands) to also launching online publications in New Jersey.

Regulations, taxes, and earnings It was only a few short weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court kicked PASPA into the wayside which New Jersey passed sports betting legislation. The bill passed by unanimous vote in both chambers and was swiftly signed into law by Governor Phil Murphy (who happened to put the first bet at Monmouth Park later that week) on June 11.
Regulation of the industry was handed off to the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement, the exact same agency that manages oversight for Atlantic City casinos and online gaming sites in New Jersey. Fortunately, the nation was primed to offer sports betting for several decades, allowing regulators to launch emergency regulations just two weeks after Murphy penned the sports betting bill into law.
New Jersey law mandates that only qualified casinos and racetracks be eligible for a sports betting license, and that online sportsbook operators have to be partnered with a permit holder. Other factors of interest:

The tax rate is set at 8.5% for land-based places, and 13% for internet sites, with horsemen required to pay an extra 1.25percent to the Department of Local Government Services at the Dept. of Community Affairs.

Wagering on college sports is allowed, unless a New Jersey college or university team is involved. Then it is a no-go.
Permit holders have a 270-day window (transactional waiver) to operate online sportsbooks in the absence of a physical sportsbook.
New Jersey doesn’t cover an integrity fee to professional sports leagues in market for data and league supervision, nor will it probably ever.
In terms of manage, New Jersey books took $184 million in bets during September 2018. And from June — September, the industry generated over $40.4 million in revenue. Just a couple of weeks after, New Jersey passed a new sports betting bill, and in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Monmouth Park sportsbook on June 14, 2018, the industry was born.Today, it thrives.
